Happy Mother’s Day everyone!
Today was long as hell. When Jon and I finally woke up, we rallied with Taylor and went to Sneakers on the Winooski circle to get some breakfast. I had, hands down, the BEST eggs benedict of my life. Once we finished that up, I dropped Taylor back off where she was staying.
One more episode of Kitchen Nightmares with Jon before I packed my stuff and hit the road. The drive was pretty nice. A lot warmer than the last time I was in Montreal.
Grabbed some of my favorite cereal on the way in. I used to eat French Toast Crunch all the time when I was a kid until they discontinued int in the United States. Turns out it’s still a thing up here.

Even passed a really chill town on the way through the farmland.
When I finally got into Montreal, I met up with Brit Merz, her roommates, and a few of her friends. We had a bit of a potluck situation. Nachos, salad, pierogies, and burritos were had. Everyone settled in for a night of just talking and watching Zoolander. It was really pleasant getting to know everyone, and have a few drinks since the drinking age is a bit lower up there. ;)
Hey all! Today started out pretty normally. Did some chores around the house in East Hampton and some last minute extra packing before I headed off. Pretty uneventful drive up. Stopped at the bank, deposited some cash, and filled my tank right before a straight shot to Burlington.
I watched a few episodes of Kitchen Nightmares with Jon (new favorite show), helped Taylor move her couch to a secure holding location, then got lunch with Jon at Henry’s diner. Poached egg, hash browns, and two slices of Greek toast; best sub $4 meal I’ve ever had.
After some more Kitchen Nightmares, we ended up at the place Taylor is staying at until her lease starts for a little shindig. We met, among several other people, Aimee – the new arts & crafts assistant director at MCC. So that was pretty neat. Everyone hung out for a few hours, listened to some old music, and reflected on the last year. #EndOfFinalsWeek
Kristen was missing us, so we put on our best faces for her.
Walked back across town to crash in Jon’s apartment. All in all a pretty good day.
Hey friends! Today’s the day I leave on this crazy adventure. I decided to cut out California, because it was an extra $1,000+ for one or two extra stops. However, I get to spend between 10 and 14 days in Florida. Can’t complain about that AT ALL. But here’s the new map. I still need to update the destinations page, and some other things on the site, but the car’s packed, oil’s changed, and I’m ready to go. Just gotta fill my CamelBak and head to Burlington.
I’ll post some pictures tomorrow, and keep everyone updated. Wish me luck!
And round three. This is the final version y’all! Map coming soon. (June 2, 2013)
Sooooo… updated map. Round two!
Second Map Iteration
Hey everyone. Just put together a tentative map of where I’ll be heading this summer. Needed to calculate the gas money, so I plugged in all my stops.
First Map Iteration
So, as we go forward in planning, some unexpected things came up. One of Casey’s good friends started planning a wedding, and as it turns out, the special day is right in the middle of our trip. In Connecticut. So he can’t go.
That said, I’m looking for someone else to go with me, so that this can be economically feasible. My cousin, Dylan Parrish, is thinking about it. We’ll know as soon as he gets his summer courses planned, and I can continue planning from there. Here’s to hoping I can get this squared away soon!
I’m not sure if anyone’s really checking the website at this point besides me, and those interested in going on this trip, but I’m using it as a journal of sorts as well, so here’s the latest entry.
After fiddling with themes and widgets and everything else for a couple of days, I’ve finally got this site to a place where I’m comfortable showing it to everyone. It’ll definitely build up and have more content as Spring and Summer happen, but for now it’s in that nice middle ground between barely functional and interesting enough to check of your own volition.
The rest of this weekend has been trying to pull a couple more people into the trip to make it cost less for everybody. Other than that, I’ve been contacting some more people to meet up with on the road, to try to hook up more cool things to see and places to go. Beyond that, I’ve been busy with homework and fiddling with a few other websites I have. I’ll continue developing this site over the next few months, and I hope all of you might let me know what you want to see! This is as much an experience for you as it is for us. Keep on keeping on.
After cross referencing every music festival happening this year with dates and locations, I narrowed it down to The Governor’s Ball 2013! Kanye and Guns n’ Roses are headlining, with backup from NAS, Pretty Lights, The XX, Animal Collective, and Of Monsters And Men. Three days of some of the BEST music and exploring New York City. Great end to the journey.
So, in planning for this trip, I found out that Jeff Fidler is going to still be in school through the first half of our trip. What better opportunity to pick up some Fall Out Boy tickets to see them play their home state? We’ll be hanging out with Jeff for the day, exploring the city and getting some pizza. It’s the second stop on FOB’s Save Rock And Roll tour. Should be pretty dope.
